Dear Future Weber Parents/Guardians,

Welcome! Exciting things are happening at Weber! Middle school is an important experience for the students and it should be a great experience for you too. Being a Weber parent/guardian, you do not have to sign up to become a member of the Home and School Association. You are automatically part of our Weber HSA community, and we are all in this journey together, as one family.

Our Weber HSA Community includes over 1,200 middle school families and over 200 staff members! Throughout three years of middle school, all students will have many opportunities to challenge themselves, reach new goals and make new friends. At the end of eighth grade, they will be ready for high school.

Together, as a family, we are working tirelessly to make the three years of middle school a memorable experience. As we gear up for the 2018-2019 school year, we are looking for your help to make this coming year the most rewarding year yet.

Please carefully review this Registration Packet and return it to the Weber HSA by Tuesday, June 19th.

We are looking forward to getting to know you and working with you next year. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Stay Connected!
Middle school is a time when good communication between home and school is essential. Always look for:

  • Communication from Teachers: Teachers will call or email to connect with you directly, when needed. They may also use other means, such as Edmodo & Remind, to communicate general information. Make sure to read each teacher’s instructions, sign up and stay in the loop.
  • The Home and School Association (HSA) Newsletter: A weekly email that will keep you up to date on what’s happening at school.
  • The Newsletter from Principal Shields: The Principal’s Corner is sent about every six weeks and includes information about school events.
  • Conversations with Principal Shields and HSA Meetings: These are usually held in the Weber library. All are invited to share their ideas and discuss topics of interest. We also share important information.
  • You Are a Weber Viking! Your Colors: Blue and White / Your Mascot: The Port Washington Viking
  • Spirit Day: Every first Wednesday of the month, wear our school colors proudly!

2018-2019 School Year – Compact for Learning Committee Nominee Information Form

In 1994, The New York State Education Department called upon all school districts to establish “Compact for Learning” committees at each school within a district.  The purpose of the Compact Committee is to allow for local site-based planning and shared decision-making around such issues as budgets, school climate, cultural arts, homework, building & facilities, and home & school communication.  This is to be accomplished by a combined group of faculty, administrators, and parents. Weber’s ten-member Compact Committee consists of Weber’s principal, four teachers, one support staff member, and four parents.  Three of these parents are selected from our Weber parent body.  A member of the Executive Board of the Weber HSA represents the fourth parent position.

The Compact Committee meets once a month, on a day chosen by the committee, usually from 4:15 – 5:15 pm in the Weber Principal’s Office. Attendance at these meetings, in their entirety, is expected.

This year we have a total of three parent positions open: two are for two-year terms and one is for a one-year term. Each position is for a two-year term, except for those parents whose child(ren) will be in the eighth grade. (If an 8th grade parent is selected, another parent will be selected to serve the second year of that term.) If you are interested in serving on Weber’s Compact Committee, please return this form before July 6.  A Nominating Committee will meet to consider all the candidates, and you will be notified of the results in August.
